Forum for Titan 22 (#82)
Are we taking bets that PaulManfu will join-not-play in yet another game and the game will starts with no Birdman?
He has been submitting turns recently in the other games he enrolled. This gives me faith he is committed to play. Thus, I bet he is not dropping out. Don´t let me down PaulManfu!
On the other hand I know real life can render this game completely irrelevant or simply leave not sufficient time to play. In this case it would not be a shame to leave the game and allow another player to join.
Also, playing multiple games at the same time can become quite a burden /challenge timewise once it got beyond turn 20 ...

FAKE ! FAKE ! FAKE !
Guys, this PaulManfu account is for me subject to be removed, deleted, banned forever.
Look at the score in Titan22. We are at turn 5 and that guy has - 1 planet, 1 starbase, 1 cap ship, 3 freighters All other players are doing real stuff which can be seen on their score.
PaulManfu is played - or not played? - just for the sake of not letting the Bird grow and to benefit the REAL guy behind on his primary race.
PaulManfu is 'played' in 4 games and in all 4 games you can see the exact same pattern.
This is not fair at all.
If one wants to play two races in a game than he should do it properly and give both races his full attention.
I'd say 'Killrace Bird' and remove the account.
Sorry for my hard words but ...
Would be nice to know streu opion on this topic?
Lupus 2: Playing the Fascists, missed 9 out of 28 turns. Dropped out two times and rejoined, even though his gameplay was very questionable. I am uncertain about this guy, but will solve it with my own hands (or ships).

What a joke Turn 6 and no change in score. streu: Stefan we need you !!!
tpftux,
I feel you and I find the described gameplay pretty annoying not only because it's slowing down the gameflow but also it's creating an imbalance in the game right from the getgo. Unfortunately, I cannot see any rules violated here, i.e. two races are played by the same individual - which admittedly will be hard to proof. So, I guess we can only call on every Player being concious to treat others the same way he/she/it want to be treated.

P.S. I believe though, every game Kobrov signs up for has an inherently imbalance.

let me disagree. out of 52 completed games, only 13 wins. another question is that it is VERY difficult to defeat him..... but there is no limit to perfection!
PS - my statistics are more modest - 1 win out of 11 games
I agree it is quite annoying when turns are not submitted on a regular basis.

I don't know how that's meant in the context. If you mean that Kobrov is simply playing well, I agree.
It’s even more annoying if turns are submitted without any commands sent.
Who would benefit if Bird is not played?
Think about it (anti cloak immunity, cloacked battleship) !
There might be several answers.

I like the idea of brainstorming on the aspect you mentioned.
As I don’t have time today anymore I will paste my 5 cents tomorrow. But it will be interesting to see your answers on my theory.
Stay tuned….
Maybe a newbie with no time.
Maybe a newbie with no time.
Doens't look like a newbie to me... Never met someone this newbish, who ist still playing... There are a million games out there that are waiting to be played... It isn't even fun for this guy to play the bird like this... Maybe the goal is already reached... The bird is slowed down enough, not to be of any threat to other races now

No, don't think it's a newbie (meaning a new human player behind) nor it's related to time constraints.
But i also think that the goal of 'destroying' Bird is reached.
Not really sportsmanship-like kind of gameplay.
But coming back to 'who would benefit' ?
..and this is only pure brainstorming without any fingerpointing.
Bird's Loki-Immunity:
Clear to me, here Fed and Lizard would benefit in case they have Bird as enemy. No Birds mean no DarkWing is knocking on their doors.
Bird's Cloaking battleships:
Not having Resolute and DarkWing would benefit everyone who has Bird as enemy. Especially when thinking about alliance of Birds with some others, e.g. Clocked miners (web or normal).
They are cheap to build and have lots of weapons (in regards to mine sweeping).
Bird as your neighbor:
If someone has them as neighbor but is not interested in their ships but only in their territory it'll make sense to not invest in expansion of Bird.
Interesting point here is the score of Bird. 1 planet, 1 STB, 1 cap ship, 3 freighters. This freighters are loaded with clans, sup and MC and waiting to be captured 'coincidentally' by that neighbor. He then will use this resources to take planets in Birds territory.
It will also give more space between him and his second next neighbor which delays the point in time of first contact. Good or bad? - depends on who the other neighbor is.
Worth to mention is also that the poor honest guy who has Bird as neighbor is now betrayed in having a IMO powerful ally. If now the other neighbor is hostile it could mean end of life for that poor guy.
Anyways, i guess you all agree that the account in question was just created in order to give someone else a boost and there was never the intention to let the race grow (similar to his other games).
How to go on?
Again, it depends on your positioning to the Birds. If i recall correctly Stefan doesn't have 'killrace' on his server.
Hi guys,
my two cents:
So far I see no rule violations. Playing bad is not illegal. And usually, the penalty for playing bad is getting your ass whipped by the other players in the game, so go for it...!
PaulManfu is playing different races in different games so it's not a matter of blocking a specific racial ability either.
(I must admit though that my abilities to detect sock-puppet accounts are very limited as I don't force any big-data anti-cheat spyware on you. Closest I could diagnose from log files is dorm/room-mates, and that's legal.)
--Stefan
It is not my intent to start a witchhunt, but since there was the speculation of Manfu being a puppet, then the consequent next step would be to see who might be profiting among the players. It is very likely to assume that if someone is behind it then this person is also taking part in these games. Everyone can check for themselves that there are just two players here who are or were also playing in every game that Manfu started so far: Kobrov and Milko
But I have to agree with Stefan: As annoying as it is, the best way to deal with it is just to attack and destroy quickly.

Unfortunately all said is true
No violation (at least not easy to proof)
Annoying for sure
Actually i would even go that far to call it 'damned stupid'
Nevertheless, the victim(s) for this and future games is clear.
I'd say: Go and get them, boys!!! The hunt is open.
Hey

Assuming that PaulManfu is the room-mate of one of the other players, it is even more strange that he does not play properly. When he joined PlanetsCentral he must have been enlisted by his buddy. And if he truely is such a lousy player why does he not receive any mentoring?
He might be a player on his own, but to me the only reason he's joining games is to fill up empty race slots and if possible serve as easy prey for the player who brought him in here...
Cheers,
Mike
Hi, I know Manfu personally, I tried to introduce him to the world of VGAP but without success (he doesn't even read the forum and therefore doesn't know about the discussion). I myself (due to limited time available), am unable to mentor him. Given the inconvenience, do I tell him to leave?
Giuseppe
Well, from my point of view you dont need to do that. But on the other hand, it also makes no sense to join a game when the person is not really interested. If he's up to it, ask him to find a mentor among the veteran players. But that would mean to also exchange messages on a regular basis for around a whole year. I'm sure someone here would not mind to take up that task for him, cause we all know that it is a benefit to all of us when the community gains another member. Maybe you could ask him and tell us? And thank you for your reply!

And again we have to wait for the bird empire What is this guy managing? Maybe he has planed something big and will overthrow all of us in the end

Luckily we don't need to worry about him anymore
