Forum for North Star 1 (#33)
After Orion's leave, we have decide what to do.
I see two ways
1) play few turns more for ending (let crystal move to the 3rd place)
2) stop the game and find replacement (because of crystal will become too strong by capturing large orion's fleet, while he is not playing)
What you think about it?..
Anybody here?..

I didnt notice this thread so far.
What about:
3) Continue, and fight me?
I am also ok with a replacement player, but I just wanna point out that other races also were taking advantage of inactive players so far, by killing and taking over territories. We didnt stop the game there.
I think we should continue only after replacement of Orion. or end in few turns without it.
About other races - yes, maybe some of them had easy territories, but nobody has fleet of 80 warships for free capturing.
Orion is too powerful in comparison with other droppers, and Tholian has capture ability.
And, about continue - we haven't end of game rule still. There's only you who wants "last man standing", nobody supported your opinion.

If Orion had ships worth to be taken in the face of 150 lizard ships (capitals, not total; just to get the knack) there would have been no need to drop out. But he lost two big ships for a base and decided that orion abilities won't help him with the given fleet.
I don't think that Tholians can make more use of the orionfleet than the Orions themselves could. And don't even think you could throw mines as you please. Dunno bout Siba but if it was my fleet of 150 capital ships the minesweep capacity would be around 5 fleets sweeping 40k mines (aka 30k webs) in a flash. And since it's Excelsiors we are speaking of you'ld get stuck in a 200ly oldfashioned minefield in return. Really a waste of time.
Switching positions of Orion and Tholian and ending the game afterwards seems to be a sensible aproach.
Guys, I am not playing this game because of statistics or because I wanna score first place in everything I do. For me, its about the challenge and fun. So, "switching places" with another race before ending it is nonsense for me. If you dont like the game anymore, drop out, give someone else your race. I cant force you to do stuff you dont like, but that would be my suggestion. I just dont like the idea to end the game without even having a single fight with the top 2 Players - just because I was busy so far with the other ones.
we can have a break until we found a new privateer and lizard, no problem with me. the Klingons didnt participate so far in this conversation, so it seems to me he will continue playing.

Think it was just emotions.. it'd be fine Yggdrasil take his race back and continue playing.

Agree...

It seems, you want just moving chips
Think, we have fun at the early game, when races wins or dying after epic important battles, but there's not much fun to move 200 objects without reasonable progress.
As for me, VGAplanets is not a game for last man standing anyway. There's no sense for two races with 200+ planets and ships to fight each other for years. Just ask yourself - if you want to play duel, would you like to do this at 500 planets map with 500 ships limit?.. Or it's better to play at 150 planets/ships limit?..
So, 11 players begins to play, some of them dying, some not. We allocate some time to play, and then we see, who gets better. The first of three places usually are prize-winning places.
Since there was five active races, we could play still for funny changes in some turns (gorn-cylon, gorn-orion, orion-tholian, etc). But if there's just three fat races with 100+ planets left, i don't expect any fun further.
It's much more funny to play next game
I can continue, but i wish to know what i'm playing for. Strategic games always need the goals and winning conditions.
i am suggest begin a vote about the end of game.
i don`t have interest continue this game.

I agree to end.
But - 2+9 has just 50.3% of total PTScore, or 57.7% of alive player's PTScore. 1+3+11 has just another ~1%.
So, you need Klingon or Tholian votes to reach 2/3, like Stephan said:
"Thus, using the standard "roll a die, starting at turn 80 (or 70?)" would sound like a reasonable idea to me. Otherwise, Siba's voting idea also sounds sound. Somehow: every fifth turn (or every Sunday, i.e. every other turn?), place votes. If the sum of the voters exceeds, like, 2/3 of total PTscore, game ends (one or two turns after). "
I vote to end

I would like to end the game...
I would like to end the game...
alright then, lets stop it. 1) Liz 2) Klingon 3) Crystal thats my vote
Maybe I will get the chance to fight the top players next time
I probably sound like a broken record if I suggest the "around turn 80" ending condition?
--Stefan
Best is the enemy of the good. No problem for turn 80... or any other decision.
Don't know, why Klingon says nothing... His opinion is important, I think.

Hi folks, if you all want to end the game, I'm in for that.
So be it. Turn 80+x, as usual.

Oh really... I thought that one was a joke.
This is a waste of time. Totally silly. Just end it now!
The usual 80+ ending means 5 totally useless turns + with bad luck 10 more. I won't turn 15 more times if everybody wants to end. I might do 5 at the very most.
Hey, man.. you have just 2 planets. Is it really hard to make these turns?..
As for me - no problem with ending turn 80 exactly, too
