[Posting] Easter break

Hi Folks,

I would like to pause the game around eastern, so I can spend a little more time for my children during their holidays. I would suggest to pause the game after the hostrun for turn 21 on friday and start the game again one week later.

Do you agree?

Yours

Kaecki

I have no strong preference either way. A break is fine by me.

Hi,

Siba and the wanderer replied personally that they would be fine with a pause, too. Sorry I didn't start a discussion, but mailed all players instead. But in the End there are 5 'Likes' by the time.

I would assume that everybody not having answered until tomorrow evening also agrees and in that case ask Stefan(streu)to stop the host after the friday run.

Thanks for your replies

Kaecki

no problem

Hi,

I understood this that you want the game to be paused after Friday 3rd, and resume a week later, right?

Because Friday marks the 3/week-to-2/week change, the scheduler does funny things, and the next turn will be on Thursday 9th (=night from Thursday to Friday) anyway; see the schedule details.

Do you still need a break? If so, I would skip the Thursday 9th host, and continue with Sunday 12th.

Sorry guys,

but you all confused me with this mailing for the easter break. Finally I trusted in the fact hat easter ist starting with Karfriday. Which was yesterday. With the trust in that info I did look after the game, cause I was on duty till 2200h in the office and home not before 2230.

Next time, if you mail ALL PLAYERS keep on going that way. I have no time to consult EVERY single forum, mail-engine or private mailadresse or whatsoever for the details. This bad info-management cost me an important turn right before the shiplist ist filled.

THANK YOU - THIS WAS BULLSHIT!

Sorry Allan,

but in the mail to all players I wrote the same as in the post. I always asked for a pause AFTER the hostrun for TURN 21!!

I even asked Stefan to have a look at the turns (if they would be complete just before the hostrun), for there were still 4 turns missing two hours before the hostrun. Unfortunately this mail has obveously not reached him in time.

Sorry, but not my fault!

@ Stefan: I would like better skipping the thursday turn and start the host with the sunday hostrun

Hi everyone,

ok, time for mission critique.

(a) regarding information policy. The preferred way to stay informed is the forum. I recommend everyone to follow their games' forums and the News forum.

I have not only got complaints about too little information, but also about too much ("do I now get mail for every hiccup the server makes?"). That's why you can configure quite flexibly when the server sends you mail for forums. Since a few months now, the server automatically subscribes you to a game's forum when you subscribe to the game, but some of you might have subscribed before I implemented that.

I try to keep mailing (PM'ing) players directly at a minimum. I also read all forums (...more often than regular email) and thus can better prepare whether I need to keep an admin-console-capable device with me  (I didn't have network for the last few hours.)

(b) also information policy: I never change anything on a game without an explicit, positive announcement on the forum. As long as it is discussed, it is just that: a discussion.

(c) this site is frequented by players from different countries that have different holidays. That's why it helps everyone to keep announcements simple. Don't say "I want a break on easter", that's different for everyone; say, "I want to skip the host runs from 3rd to 12th of April". Also, saying "I want to skip the host run for turn 21" is a little ambiguous (is this the host run that produces the "turn 21" result file, or the one that consumes the "turn 21" turn file?).

Summary

I have now changed the schedule so that the next host run is on 12th of April. I also moved the host time back one hour (21:00 GMT = 23:00 MESZ).
