Forum for Pleiades 5 (#17)
Hi streu,
Host run is set to tuesday 31.03. which is quite unusual. I assume you got some mail to delay the next one?
I generally don't mind delaying a hostrun for someone on holidays or business trip or whatever and I definitely don't care who asked to do so. But I'ld appreciate a short notice here that the scedule was changed the next time.
best regards
Daylight savings time The server is on a universal time. The hostruns on 23:00 are moved to 0:00 the next day.
Hi, I support Com Ci Cat A short notice would be great. An other story: I would like to officially start an election to move the Hostrun to 22:00 CET. At this time I would still check my turn and maybe start adjusting some things - 0:00 is quite late if you have to work the next day...
Please just vote and lets see if the othe players also like the idea. If the majority is for 0:00 i would be fine whith the decision to keep it as it is.
Thank you
Stefan

I cannot give a notice whenever some country starts daylight savings because everyone does that at a different date.

This would not be a problem technically. I assume you mean 22:00 CET = 23:00 CET DST / MESZ = 21:00 GMT?

Well that was not my point at all. As Mr.X pointed out I messed up the daylight savings with a usual delayed hostrun, because I assumed that tuesday 0.00 meant 24h later than it actually did.
Good thing I asked nethertheless cause I'ld surely fallen for this trap.
However what I would suggest is to write tuesday 0.00 as monday 24.00 because that way there's quite always some time then the server gives a hostrun today even if that is only one hour. But if you write it the first way then a hostrun at 0.00 (wherever on the world that would be the case) means there is no time at all for planetscentral when this turn will be marked as running today.

I don't mind about that.

But what do you do if the host runs at 0:05? Actually, the website will never say "today" if it's between midnight and 2:00 am, because of this very ambiguity (if it's 1:00 am, and it says "today 19:00", is that before or after sleeping?).
I guess the real problem you're having is that you want a visual cue that the host run is near, and a better solution for that would be to show actual hours remaining; I think I can add that.

I would appreciate, too, hosting to hours earlier, so you can view the new turn before going to sleep.

The next scheduled host runs will now run at 21:00 GMT. Please be aware that this does not translate into "just before sleep" for everyone
