[Posting] Shall we end this game?

Hi all.

In 8-9 turns, Stefan's algorithm will kick in, which means we'll probably end this game around turn 84 or 85.

The question is: do we want to play these remaining 13-15 turns? Here's how I see it:

  • Paklet left the game several turns ago. Easy picking for whoever is attacking him.
  • The birds (oh poor birds!) don't have much to do, with 3 planets and 3 freighters.
  • CCC will win this game and I don't think there's much we can do. Congrats to him.
  • Not many ships get destroyed, which means there isn't much battling around (or the battles take place between ships and planets).
  • Personally, I am not having much fun (maybe bad choices of enemies at the beginning). But yes, it's only me to blame for that, granted.

I suggest we give it a couple more turns so that everybody has a chance to raise their score a little bit and maybe change some positions. There are some exciting games in the Join section that are taking time to fill, so some of us might join a new game and continue having fun!

What do you think?

Best regards.

Now I've overtaken the Privateers, the next player has almost 200K points more than me, so I don't think I can improve my current position too much. Therefore I wouldn't mind ending the game either.

Me too, i want this game to end. apart from figthing siba a little bit, there's not much else for me to do in this game. the cyborgs are only 60k points ahead, but other than that, i don't have a serious goal anymore.

I wouldn't mind to end this a bit early. Though I do need one more turn to max out score.

On the other hand the longer the games takes the more chances there are for any preparations to pay off. Like this turn. Looks terribly on the score but actually was a big success.

The assumption that there isn't much fighting is qite bold. It's just that everybody has to make sure not to loose too much since the end draws near. Anyway I wouldn't want to end this without a statement of the still fighting factions - especially the ones I'm not in regular contact with: at least the Colos and the Crystals. They still may have some fun.

When I look at the score graph, I see Fed and Lizard competing for first place, Tholian and Rebel for third place (or even second?), Colonial and Samurai for fifth. Looks still exciting to me :-)

If you want to end the game earlier, I would propose something like an "around turn 75" rule, i.e. roll a 25% die (default: 10%) from turn 75 on or something like that.

Hi, intergalactic friends and foes

I am still fighting a little bit but I don't object to ending the game prematurely.

Stefan is my idol

Well, quick summary:

  • Races who would like to end the game or wouldn't mind ending it: Lizards, Klingons, Empire, Robots, Rebels
  • Races who have opposed: none (yet)
  • Races who haven't answered yet: Feds, Birds, Cyborgs, Crystals, Colonies
  • Races who have left the game: Privateers

Best regards.

Only because of personal reasons, I would rather bring the game to a premature end. However I'll go with whatever decision is made.

Cheers.

If you want to end the game earlier

I vote to leave all settings unchanged.

So far we have 6 votes for ending, one for not ending. Plus, the game has advanced a few turns since the OP and scores have changed considerably.

Compromise (between "ending now, quick" and "original"): change the "end turn" to 78 and bump the probability a little, so we're rolling dice starting next host run. Well, shortens the game by two turns and a bit.

Why don't you end the game at turn 80, without rolling?..

Because you voted to leave settings unchanged  So I had to find a middle-ground between "no change" and "quicker end". (And having the random decision avoids that I accidentally or intentionally end the game when I the scores look good to me. There seems to be still some sprint on the finish line.)

I have now changed the end conditions to turn 78, 20% (from turn 80, 10%).
