Hi,

it seems that several players are not actively playing this game. Should we pause the game and give Stefan a chance to mark these positions as open? It is early enough that they recover, at least to some degree.

Regards, F. (Orion)

both ways acceptable.

Got someone at hand?

Hello!

First, I copyed this to Forum.

This forum is a better for a discussion about this game.

I think it is to late for the races 8-10. 7 may has a chance to come up if this race find early an alliance partner. It may be a option to wait for a replacement for this race. But not for the another. A automatic drop function would be usefull, but question is how much time Stefan has for this. Such a option is more important than a "Hello Admin just drop player from game_x race_y".

Also usefull may be a delay host function, working hmmm like hmmm. Ok, not so easy to define. May be a no Host function like "if x-races not in" or "if a race without *.trn not in made the last x turns without problems" or....

Generally, automatic functions are more important than solutions working only in this game for one or 5 or... turns. From my point of view, it makes not much sence if admin waste time for fast solutions if a automatic solution is posssible.

Bye Alexander

Dworin (player 7) has sought a replacement, unsuccessfully. Unfortunately, this site is still too small to have an abundancy of possible replacements. The others haven't ever submitted turns. For this game, I sent a reminder, but didn't get anything back.

I am tossing ideas around how to solve that. One idea would be some sort of karma system: submitting turns gives you karma, which you can use to "buy" host delays. This could be used by people on vacation, so they don't lose that many turns.

Another idea I'm considering (vaguely related) is to start games with a weekly schedule, not a 3x weekly one. It seems game starts still come as a surprise to many. Ooops, I'm on the Maledives sitting below the palm tree, slurping caipirinhas, and now I have to submit three turns a week?

I appreciate any input. I won't be able to make major changes to the host software this year, but I hope next year to be better. And I'm always available for manual interventions which I could do, if it must be, in the lunch breaks :-) However, some sort of auto-kick probably would get a high priority. I was hoping to not need it :-(

Good name for a good idea. Ok, idea must be filled with good details and.... So a lot of work. One Proposal is to split the "Do not host with this *.trn" into 2 Options ("use karma" or "do not use karma") or to add a var for how many karma should be used for this.

Hmmm, whats about a game start only after all *.trn are in? We are already waiting a long time till all slots are full, so one or 2 weeks more would not be a problem. At least not from my point of view.

I think even in a idle world you would need such a "auto kick out of game", as even in a idle world something may happen to the player. He/She may be ill or even death, how do you want to force a death player to play ;-). Ok, not all player not playing are death.... This is just a extreme example, there may be a lot of another reasons. Finally should such a game has a very low pri compared with real life. If this change, something is wrong. Ok would be nice if player drop a game as soon as they can not longer....

I'd be interested in once/week setups :-).

I see, this site has not so much players still, and new games waits long time for players. So, maybe it is a good idea to confirm all registered players BEFORE the game start. And if some of players do not confirm their registration in 2 weeks, drop them and wait for some new players as a replacement.

It always better to avoid the problem, than solve it later.
