Colleagues, do you think it's acceptable to break the rules in games? I have serious concerns about the friendship between rebel and the pirate, as well as the bird and the colonist. As an example, a number of "random" coincidences can be cited. Examples: 1 - a cyborg cube captured by a pirate is in space, kidnappers are hanging under it in hidden mode, a rebel ship flies up here and, as if nothing had happened, drags the cube to its base, easily leaving the ambush without losing a single ton of fuel. A pirate's mistake? I doubt. 2 - for more than 60 consecutive moves, the cyborg is in invisible neutrality with the colonist. And then, by chance, after the cyborg finally decided to take revenge on the bird for the attacks on the extreme planets, the colonist's warships flew all over the front. A coincidence? I doubt.

P.S. Did everyone become so friendly in previously played games that they forgot the rules of the single game?

I was curious about the official "rules" for no-cooperation games, and when searching I found this thread:

https://planetscentral.com/talk/thread.cgi/688-Turn-5-Fed-waits-for-reaction-of-liz-to-some-invitation

It's quite clear about what is allowed/disallowed after reading through that thread, so I would like to hope everyone is abiding by those rules in all of the no-coop setups.

Well. this is funny. You don't know me at all and I guess you can acuse me of whatever you want. It's free. But acusing the Rebel player (Stefan) of breaking the rules that he himself tries so hard to enforce, is definitely rediculous.

Thar Borg cube that you mentioned (that I had robbed and captured previously), had barely any crew and even less fuel. When I landed in one of my few planets in the middle of Rebel territory to gather some fuel, the Rebel had a cloaked ship waiting for me there, then towed that cube to one of his well defended planets and he captured the cube due to a ridiculous amount of crew (the cleaning woman, the DJ and the plumber, that's all that was left on the ship).

I shouldn't have to explain this to you, or to anybody. The Rebel and the Piarates have been in open conflict since almost the begining of the game.

I hope after this explanation, you'll be honorable enough the write an apology to both the Rebel player and myself.

BTW, accusing James and Halvar to be allied with each other in a Non-Alliances game is even more ridiculous...

If refers to the situation that I think it refers to, I think you got a tasty Assault Carrier in return which I'd rather have kept.

It's a gamble. I see a couple of ships idling in space. Why are they there? Did they miscalculate a maneuver? Is it a bait? Is he really that persistent to wait for soooo long? Someday we need to stake our turn and see how it plays out. Seems it played out as a NINTENDO CLASS GAME CUBE for me, and a carrier for Pirates.

----

In general, playing a "no alliance" game requires some gentlemen's agreement. I have no way to enforce it. Even if I would implement every option to cut contacts, I could not prevent you from posting on Reddit "hey, I'm Fed in North Star 42, who else is there?".

Please keep in mind that this is a give-and-take. Stomping all other players to pieces might give you imaginary internet points, but then you will eventually not having anyone to play with. Although this server can in theory maintain thousands of users, we are not that many...

But I can tell you that I like playing North Star especially because it takes the nasty diplomacy out of the equation.

Thanks Stefan,

I hope this clears the subject and we can all keep killing and robbing each other happily

Hi,

I would like to make that a little more precise: between turns 19 and 28 we had border conflicts. from turn 28 onwards there was peace until I attacked you on turn 75. So we had peace for 47 turns, your 60 turns are a bit exaggerated. anyway, I attacked you. We obviously had no alliance, so I did nothing wrong.

you also accuse me of working with the bird. that is not right !! I never had an agreement with the bird. There were never any agreements with other races either. If anyone claims otherwise, they are welcome to report it here. I would like to point out that I always try to play by the rules.

The game is almost over and I would like to thank all the players who stayed until the end.

And of course a big thank you to Stefan for the reliable host.
