Again a new player has appeared out of the blue taking over the last open race slot. And again it is obvious that no turn will ever be delivered.
Whoever thinks it's a good idea to generate fake accounts and enforce games to start earlier: It is not! An unplayed race always creates an unbalance and will cause the game to take an unnatural course.
I'd like to suggest to freeze the game until a replacement has been found.
Cheers,
Mike
My suggestion has always been that if a player fails to submit their first turn then the site should kick that player from the game, and reset the game status to "joining" until a new player is found. Can keep the game universe as-is, just send out turn-1 player files to the new player whenever one is found.
It should wait out the weekend before any measures...
Regarding user johnnymccuerdo, they joined recently so we're not dealing with a "join half a year ago and then forget" issue here. This would normally make me cautiously optimistic, but, well, I've been cautiously optimistic quite some times...
Regarding James T. Plagerism's idea: we tried that literally, didn't work. Therefore, maybe we should try a variation. If you don't insist on having the game change status, I could set it to manual host runs, and wait until we have a replacement. (Doing this in an automatic way would need some implementation, but in a safer way than changing the game's status.)

I have two games running, both nearing their ends. Two which I try to join, but those are waiting for players since... more than half a year already? I could replace the Rebel in case there is nothing happening. Only thing is that I will ask for a holiday break of around 10 days at the end of July

I would totally agree concerning almost any race - besides Rebels.
In our case we may killrace and start.

Thanks for your offer.
I have set the host interval to 14 days. If nothing has happened by tomorrow evening, I will enroll you to the game. (Bring up the pause again later - applies to everyone.)

Added you to the game. Unfortunately, the software was (again) smarter than me. Removing a player means all-turns-in means host runs. And I thought I had added a grace timer just for that. I hope it's still ok.

All good Stefan, I accept the challenge Thanks for adding me!
