there are regular parties with alliances for tim list and plist variants. wolf party - no alliances - there is only for plist - this is North Star I propose to create a similar one according to the rules - a wolf game without unions - using tim list.

Anyone else interested in a no-alliance Tim-list game?

Although playing alone sort-of is the point of a no-alliance game, you probably do not want to be THAT kind of alone.

as far as I remember, you can replace the game race in the pHost - for example, the player number 8 may not play for the empire (which for some reason everyone does not like) - but play for a race of pirates or lizards.

maybe it makes sense to create such a game for a faster start of a new game?

in which everyone who wants to play is recorded under the player's free number, and then, if he does not like the race with this number, he asks the master to set him his favorite race. and if there are 5 pirates and 4 lizards or crystals - it will be even more interesting!

and of course - a wolf party without alliances.

Yep. Empire and Rebel slots are hard to fill.

What at0mix suggests could be a good idea to speed up the games' start.

Anybody sees any downside to this?

unfortunately, there are only 3 active games now, and 6 games have not been scored in more than six months.

The races are more or less balanced, leaving out one or some of them will favour their primary victims. Without EE and Rebel for instance the Borg don't have to face Imperial Assault and RGA which would hit him hard early- to mid game.

If a game like this is going to be set up we should try to rebalance the races by allowing only 3 or 6 of them in order to maintain the rock-paper-scissors principle.

That's a good point too.

The fact is, that all the new games are missing a player for the Rebels (six out of six!!!!) and four of them are missing the a player for the EE.

Clearly most people don't like playing with those. Any idea to tackle this issue will be very welcome.

I keep pesting the friends I used to play Planets with (that's 25 years ago), but no luck so far. I'll keep trying, anyways.

Therefore, I have another suggestion for the question - to create a game of unions. for example, 3 races are selected for which 3 predefined unions of 3 players will play. example - races 1, 2 and 3 are selected. players with numbers 1-2-3 play in the first alliance for these races. players 4-5-6 and 7-8-9 also play for the same races each in their union. and the game will show the best union under all practical identical conditions

OK, I don't have prejudices against Rebels or Empire. I mean, if you play Empire, you get to wear a funny hat, and if you play Rebel, you get a gnome with funny grammar, so what's wrong with that? :smile:

Many of the ideas boil down to that we need a "join" mode other than: you pick you slot, and that decides your race.

We need: you join and select your race (but not your slot). Or: you join and select your 3 preferenes. Or even: you join and nobody gets to know you joined.

So I gave that feature a big boost on my feature priority queue.

Regarding features, I currently work primarily on the client side, that's why there's little visible progress on the website. But PCC2 Next Generation lays the foundation of the web app, and I have the hope/dream that that could help getting some more players. PCC2 Web plays in the browser, and PCC2 NG is a native app that can connect to the server, so no need to mess with directories and 8.3 file names like it's 1994.

(Another idea I had a while ago was to have some achievements. So playing race X gives you an achievement, and you can only get full score if you ever play Rebel and EE.)

to give an incentive to play for 8 and 10, you need to give them br4 or br5 at the start

When talking about the beginning, you're probably talking about scouting and quick spreading. I found the hyperjumpers pretty useful for that.

gravitonics can be cloned - and they give a very good start to the player due to double speed

such a gift can attract players
