Rules and Strategy for our beloved game
I love VGAP and sign up for every game I can. But I think I'm not going to sign up for any more games that allow alliances. Every single game tends to end up with the same mega-alliances formed before the game starts and no hope for anyone else to compete. I guess that means I'm restricted to North Star games, which is a shame because I'd like to play in more games, but there's no longer any point in playing games where three or four players are cooperating from before the game start. It's just not fun for the rest of us.
It's a good idea, I would take part in such a game.

What kind of setup (different from North Star) did you have in mind?

the north star settings are fine, but I think a special map needs to be developed for such a game.
For example, for five couples - the map should be something like a five-pointed star. And also add wormholes that will connect each vertex with neighboring and with the center of the map.

I think we're talking about different things. It sounds like you're suggesting a game mode where alliances are pre-made?
I'd be OK playing in a game with restricted alliances, perhaps as describe above, 5 groups of 2 players that are permanently fully-allied, all other races are permanently enemy. And you don't know who you'll be paired with when you sign up for the game. Perhaps it would need to be a manual alliance-making process by Stefan to pair up races, with effort to avoid super combinations (Lizard+Borg, Privateer-Crystal, etc).
For an automated system, I would love to see some kind of system where you sign up for the game but not any specific race. The system would then do a round-robin assignment of players to teams, perhaps based on Ranking, so that the top-5 players are all on different teams, and each paired with a lower-ranked player, and not of their choosing. Races are then semi-randomly assigned to each player (viable race pairs should be considered ahead of time to avoid said super-pairings).

I personally like the Foundation setup. Maybe a Foundation no cooperation game (or cooperation only with one other player) would generate enough interest to be filled up quickly.
Of course I get the point of not bringing up too many different games which could cause the games to slowly fill up.

I also really like the exploration, random map, StarbasePlus. The only thing I would change if I could would be PList 3.2 and full PHost features. Making it no-cooperation would be a bonus.

Brainstorming in a slightly different direction: smaller games. What about games with only 5-6 players? That way there's no waiting for somebody to take the last Empire/Rebel slot (always the last two to fill). Game should be mastered with only those few players and not with 6 dead races waiting to be conquered.

We need wolf game with G-List, multiscoring, and anonymous players. This is the most improved setup

Anonymous players I understand, can you explain (with links) the rest of it?

It's always lack of time to make english version...
G-List https://vgap.dailyfun.org/wiki/glistships https://vgap.dailyfun.org/wiki/glist
Multiscoring is combination of three diffrerent kind of scorers, like SuperInvasion + Tequila wars + Mushrooom scorer

I can try to translate it to english and collect files, if Stephan interested.
From what Google Translate shows me it looks interesting.
Where can I find the data files (hullspec, truehull, etc) for G-List? I'd be interested in adding it to the Ship List section of my site, if that's permitted?

Thanks. Turns out I needed to completely rewrite my parsing code but now G-List ships are listed at

I know this thread is not updated since a year.
But the question remains....
Lot of good ideas have been mentioned here and i also would love to see games where
- you choose a race randomly
- number of players is lower than 11
- race rotation is enforced
These are some very good ideas. It would help to give the game another bump... Unfortunately the number of real players and the free-hosts is significantly decreasing.

Simplest solution:
The next time you sign up for a Game, consider grabing the Empire or Rebel slot. Accept the challenge! 😉
