Forum for Titan 3 (#14)
Hi folks. I am a new player to VGAP. 1) How long can we expect to wait for a game to fill up/start? 2) Is it ever started with a position empty?

Some games take pretty long, especially the current offerings. Previous games filled up a little faster. But this server still needs some word-of-mouth to make the games fill faster.

I can manually start partially filled games. I can start the game this weekend maybe; I hadn't done this the previous weeks because of the holidays and business trips on my side. It would help if the other players could confirm here in the forum that they're alive and willing to start.

I suggest that when you do start it, make the first turn 1 week, to ensure that as many players as possible catch the start.
Can the host contact the players for confirmation?

I have set the first turn to take one week a while ago, just to be able to get confirmations.
I will try to contact players. However, this isn't easy as three players have not confirmed their email addresses - one of them being you, dorkathon1.
Thus, everyone subscribed for this game, please check that your email works! It must say "confirmed" next to your email address on http://planetscentral.com/settings.cgi. I have resent the confirmation requests on weekend, so please check your spam folder. (And if you do no longer want to play this game, resigning at this time doesn't have any penalties.)

Status of the game: four players confirmed my PM. That leaves us with six who didn't, half of which have no confirmed email address (...and thus see my messages only when logging in to the site).
I'm torn between removing these from the game (making the wait longer) or starting the game anyway (risking a boring game).

maybe you could announce a start (f.e. for the 1st of march) and then see who's sending in turns. if there are several players not taking part (which i expect after so many months of wait) then you could remove these from the game and restart it with more reliable players.

That's precisely what I'll do.
The initial host will run in a few minutes, and announce the next turn for "in a week". Let's see how many turn files we have until then; I'll modify the the schedule accordingly if we need more players. Same as I did on Pleiades 5.
