I strongly disagree with the ending of this game too. I never realized that the winning conditions were changed and was taken completely by surprise by the end of the game.

I did visit the Forum discussion, but before Stefan announced that the game was going to end. I could live with the fact that the majority of the players votes to end the game, but at least I'd have appreciate my chance to polish my score as everybody else did.
