Forum for North Star 13 (#65)
Hi,
Its been e very long time since I played planets. I joined this game and punt the files in my vpwork1 folder and used winplan32 to play. For some reason my ships are not at my planet and they do not have fuel so I can not send them anywhere. Am I missing files or using the wrong files?
Hi,
Welcome back to the Echo Cluster.
Perhaps you did this already, but if you didn't, you have to download the player files from the game page and copy the contents of the playerfiles.zip file into your game working directory. Then, copy the two files included in your first turn zip file (the. RST and the data file) also 8n the game directory. Then, do the unpack.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Thank you for your quick reply.
I downloaded the playerfiles.zip and my player zip file. I unpacked them both in a vpwork folder, pointed my winplan to that folder, unpacked the result files and started playing. Unfortunately somthing went wrong an I see my 2 ships in deep space.
hi,
unfortunately I don't use winplan but vpa. but, if your ships are in the wrong position, i would suspect that something is wrong with your xyplan.dat. It is just a guess. are you sure the files are in the correct folder?
It definitely sounds like an issue with a config file. It happened to me once, and it was because one file wasn’t in the right place.

Step 1 From your WinPlanet select the corresponding Game Game 1 / Game 2 // ... Game X Step 2 Check that the work folder is well pointed, in the case of Game 1 you should have the (RTS Download Path and the TRN Upload Path in C: \ plan1 \ vpwork1) in the case of game 2 to vpwork 2 and so on. Step 3 Click on the clean button (Check that the work folder has nothing inside it should be empty) Step 4 Unzip the content of playerfiles.zip in vpwork1 (in case you use that folder for this game) Check that it should be in that folder and not in a subfolder Step5 Unzip playerX.zip in the working folder, the same one that you put the content of playerfiles.zip Step 6 run the game and click on an RTS pack. Play by Game Sorry my translation, my English is not good

I fully understand the steps and I followed these again. I even did the clean option (something that I did not do before).
I still have my ships in space not at a planet. I think it has to do with my winplan client.
What are you guys using for a client to play?
Hi,
I use Planets Command Center II (PCC2). You can download the last version at:

I am using Winplanets 3.52 that one time I license, I have the working folder not the installer, every time I take it to another machine I have to search for DDL and register them so that a few of the same ones from VBA 3.0 work
Also in the following link you can find many versions that work
I am using Winplan version 3.52.025.

I use VPA. Easy handling, full access to all turn history, extended missions and all hull functions included. You have to run it under DosBox though.
Check it out here .
Cheers,
Mike
bored!!!!! Unfortunately this game already died before starting, if you register to play a game it is assumed that you have everything prepared and are ready to start and that you know what you are talking about, it has been dead for more than 7 days and leads to loss of interest of the players in 3 days if this does not start, unfortunately I will leave this game

hi,
it would certainly be helpful for everyone to inform the players about the current state of play.
We haven't heard anything from Robot yet, that's bad.
are both players still interested in the game?
Lizards believes we should restart and let the chips fall where they may.

Anyone know anything about the 2? so much discussion and they don't even report to know if they are really going to be resent in the game

they are obviously players who haven't played for a long time.
Anyway, we can't wait forever. if they have problems with the software, then that is not our problem. we tried to find a solution together, but those who were looking for help suddenly disappeared. that's bad.
I am therefore in favor of starting the game again! without turns of empire and robot.
who agrees?

I agree. I tried to contact them both directly in addition to what has already been discussed in the forum, in order to speed up their game setup. But neither of them did even respond.
So I'd say let's drop them from the game and give some other players the chance to sign up before turn 1 is done. Quite a few games have just ended recently, maybe one or the other is looking for a new challenge
Cheers,
Mike
I liked Mike's idea, I like his thinking but it will still be assimilated

I also agree with that.
Me too. Let's free the slots and hopefully start soon with two new players.
