If anyone has any base vpa for sharing I will be very grateful.

may be Stefan can organise a section on the website for visitors to upload to their VPA base?

In the end, this is another good opportunity to raise their level of play, learn from those who play well

regards max

Well, you can already share files with others, but it's a little cumbersome.

  • Use Play->Manage Files
  • Make a folder, let's say, "shared"
  • Open that folder
  • Click "Properties"
  • Check "Read" (and "List" if you wish) permissions for everyone.
  • Click "Save"
  • Upload files, post the link in the forum.

I have a design for a attach-files-to-PMs-and-forum-postings feature, but no implementation yet.

Of course, you can also just post Dropbox, Owncloud, etc. links.

PlanetsCentral's file sharing abilities are and will always be limited. Mainly because I don't have the money, time and nerves to deal with music industry complaints...

Tnx a lot!

I hope i all did as you said

i upload my VPA base from Pleiades 07 from Rebel player

It was my first party after a 10 year break and the first party in PHost 4.1 and plist 3.2. I didn't know anything about the XP system for ships, could not understand how to use it )) could not figure out how to survive among experienced neighbors, but luck and persistence yielded results.

The party for me was very emotional, very interesting and although I made a lot of mistakes out of ignorance and inexperience, but nevertheless, I defend my home world from the attacks of the fed and colonist. And at the beginning of th party we organizing a joint operation with pirate on the front with Empire completely neutralized the danger from this flank till to the end of the party.

so I had to do some fighting at the same time with three opponents, all of them are in the top site ranking and I got a lot of fun!

Well, I have to say a huge thank to Stefan (Crystall) for the fact that he responded to my call for help and I've been using the webs managed to contain the attack of the FED.

otherwise it would have been much worse for me

The party was interesting!

Recommend ))

And if someone will share the base I will be very grateful!

Nice summary. And kaecki made it. Would have expected nothing less from him.

But really what is a base vpa? I just had a look into the files but PCC2 can't make any use of it. At least not in a way I know.

So what's the matter with sharing them? And since you joined pleiades 5 for testing would you be interested in my "base vpa" from pleiades 5? (provided I can create them - how is that done?)

CCC, you had a carefree childhood

PCC cannot make use of VPA databases (vpaX.db), and VPA cannot make use of PCC databases (backup/chartX.YYY folder). You need to install VPA inside DOSBOX to view it.

It might be that a future PCC2 version can read them, but I wouldn't hold by breath for it.

VPA = VGA Planets Assistant - VGAP client for DOS by Alex Ivlev

VPA has the best and comfortable interface as i see

btw Alex Ivlev was born and lived in the Barnaul. i live in the Barnaul too )) so i use VPA as well ))

but you can use another VPA base viewer

thats java and you can view this base in any computer

So what's the matter with sharing them? And since you joined pleiades 5 for testing would you be interested in my "base vpa" from pleiades 5? (provided I can create them - how is that done?)

I'll be interested of any skilled player's base so if you can - please ))

regards max

No carefree childhood. Who's got a carefree childhood and ends up in some VGA-nerd-forum? Present company excepted - obviously.

However - what ever playing planets may suggest I am still an enduser. I am able to download and run vpa in dosbox - though I made the silly mistake to make my first test with turn 83 from Just a Second ... which was a nightmare at first  - but I don't know what to do with some "strange" script files. I am happy that I'm able to turn them on and off in firefox at will now. And I don't know how to read the VPA base files with vpa. I get the errorcode can't read planets.nm

btw to april:

s´treu is living in Dresden. I am living in Dresden. So guess what I prefer. (anyway having a look into vpa was on my list for some time now. so thx for the opportunity to finally do so)

This is a testing version.
It may be incomplete, and have more bugs (or features) than the public live version at planetscentral.com.
