Hi!

I'm not sure. May be soon.

Good luck,

When does the game end?

There's a 10% probability that this turn is the last one. 15% for the next one. And so on. I can't say beforehand (by intention).

I thought it was the host (human) that ended it

The idea behind PlanetsCentral is that it can run without human intervention. Many servers died because the human behind them didn't have the time to keep it running. If you don't challenge me with schedule change requests or things like that, a game can run from start to completion without me lifting a finger.

Of course I currently still have to do a thing here or there from time to time, but game end conditions are things a computer can decide pretty well.

Damned, I noticed this thread much too late.

I expected as well, the the game is somehow finshed, likewise happened in Pleiades6 recently. This incontinuous bahviour of the automated host is really confusing and may result in avoidable mistakes.

Can't we simply declare a game to be at it's end?

I'm not sure what you want to say?

PlanetsCentral rolls a die to determine if a game ends. If I say "the game ends in turn 80 flat", people max out their bases in turn 79 as if there is no tomorrow (because there actually is no tomorrow). This doesn't give a good view of the strength of an empire. Making the end a little more uncertain attempts to weaken that effect a little, because you still must be able to defeat someone steamrolling you by turn 82.

This is probably uncommon among VGAP hosts, but you can get used to it

I have tuned the parameters to end games a little faster than originally configured. However, nobody asked to completely abolish it, so I kept it.

However, if needed, the server also supports a classic "end in turn X flat" condition, or even ending a game manually.

Really?.. So what the reason to use scoring method, "That doesn't give a good view of the strength of an empire." ?

I prefer certain conditions for game end.

good practice is to end game at certain conditions, and give players ability to vote by their scores after fixed number of turns. For example - game ends at turn 80, but players a able to end game earlier, if players with 66% of total scores vote for end.

This is a testing version.
It may be incomplete, and have more bugs (or features) than the public live version at planetscentral.com.
