Hi everybody,

somewhen in the next 2 months there's a happy event occuring, which is erm kinda connected to me. More precisely "2" becomes "3", where "2" is me and my girlfriend, and you probably get the picture now. :D

Anyway, for that reason there might be a week or maybe 2 when I totally cannot say how often I can turn in. Maybe I can just as usual, maybe I can't at all. Moreover I totally cannot tell yet which week that might be (planned date is the first week of april, but naturally that's nowhere near certain). So I am asking everybody if it is OK to write a note here and a message to streu to disable the auto schedule for this time when I know the time. It is rather given that there will be no forecast lead time at all. Hope that's the right word here. So when I write to streu that schedule has to stop, it has to stop right away.

Thx ahead. ;-)

Well, congratulations are in order :-)

As for Pleiades-1, it'll be finished by then, so nothing to worry about here. Pleiades-3 will still be running, but I don't mind taking a break for a couple of weeks if you guys agree.

Enjoy your parenthood.

Congratulations!

If you start training now, in two months you'll reach level 4 (Ultra Elite) and you'll gain the special ability "Awesomeness" when you set mission "Change nappies", LOL.

I don't mind taking a break either.

I don't mind pausing for a few days

Thx everybody. Time has come, so I asked streu to stop the sceduler. Which means we can still play on when all turns are in (and marked permanently ). I'll turn asap, and may be it's even thursday. I just can't say for sure.

Congrats!

Thx a lot.

After the first trouble has settled down a bit now, I may ask streu to restart the scheduler. Any objections?

If he did right now next host run would be sunday, if I remember correctly, that is.

DAMN.

After CCC poked me by PM, I enabled the scheduler, and it dutifully ran a host immediately, because Thursday (=today) is a host day. I didn't expect that. I guess paklet and CCC aren't totally happy with that. I have therefore stopped it again and would offer a rerun if everyone wants/agrees. So, please avoid investing too much time into the current RSTs, because there might be another set.

I haven't looked at the host data, and I'm not sure how that would affect game balance.

That was truly unexpected... I can't remember the scheduler acting that way from Just a Second. Anyway, granted that no one objects I'll end my t35 now and send it via mail?

EDIT:

huuuh? and 5 minutes after my post the HOST is reset. thx streu. magnificient support as usual.

The problem with computers is that they do what you tell them, not what you mean. Thinking a little more, what the scheduler did was totally expected: host runs Sundays and Thursdays 16:00 GMT, and since there was no Sunday turn, it'll happily run a host in the 16:00 -- 22:00 time window allocated for the host run. It was a busy week, so I probably would have overlooked that anyway. Sort of like an easter-egg, maybe.

I have now reset the game to the previous state and hope I didn't break anything (there isn't a function to do that yet in the software, so it's manual work in the file system and database).

Please submit your turn file for turn 35. Since everyone has seen the "preview" of turn 36, I cannot forbid you to use that knowledge and update your turn.

I will monitor the game and re-enable the scheduler when everything works fine again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Stefan, I'm not sure the game is completely reset to the previous state.

Please take a look at the game info page: http://planetscentral.com/host/game.cgi/11-Pleiades-3

and then at the scores at turn 35

  • 6 The Cyborg 536892
  • 1 The Feds 492607
  • 4 The Klingons 462246
  • 2 The Lizards 356000
  • 10 The Rebels 337955
  • 5 The Privateers 335429
  • 11 The Colonies 334132
  • 8 The Samurais 302752
  • 7 The Tholians 298381
  • 9 The Robots 238787
  • 3 The Bird Men 156659

and turn 36

  • 6 The Cyborg 548090
  • 4 The Klingons 493459
  • 1 The Feds 476835
  • 2 The Lizards 398788
  • 10 The Rebels 353497
  • 11 The Colonies 349177
  • 5 The Privateers 335696
  • 7 The Tholians 317567
  • 8 The Samurais 301600
  • 9 The Robots 247181
  • 3 The Bird Men 174814

Several players' scores don't match neither of those scores.

In case you verify everything is correct, do we have to submit turn36 again?

Thanks.

EDIT:

Mmm, could it be that the host run again and some players changed their turns? That would explain why some scores change and others don't.

I have now implemented the following:

  • I reset host again.
  • I stopped the scheduler completely.
  • I will run the next turn manually, this Tuesday evening around 18:00 GMT (20:00 CEST). So everyone can look at two possible outcomes and go for a third. Everyone can resubmit a turn file for turn 35. <-- edit: 35!
  • The next scheduled turn will be next Sunday, from which point on the automatic schedule will resume.
  • We all call it The Great Revelation and think it's a fun add-on that predicts our possible futures.

I know it's been a pretty bumpy ride and I'm deeply sorry for that.

Sorry, I have bad news again. Today my internet had a serious malfunction. I don't know why yet, but right now it's working (obviously). But since I don't know I can't be sure it won't happen again.

If it does, I may miss the sunday turn. I don't have another way to upload my posts anymore than at home. (notebook crasheld the week before)

EDIT I've tried now to contact my provider. The gentle voice from the phone told me that I probably had to wait at least 10 minutes which, I guess, is a very good sign that I wasn't the only one with troubles. Which means they had a problem, they solved it and the sunday turn will be no problem. :puhhh: (pls imagine that smilay, there is no fitting one yet

This is a testing version.
It may be incomplete, and have more bugs (or features) than the public live version at planetscentral.com.
