Hi Stefan.

I'm not using the Winplan integration.

I've fixed the problem by setting the game up in a different VPwork folder and copying the Echoview turn databases to that new folder, so I now have my history. I will probably have to clear that original VPwork before it can be used again.

Odd - but I'm up and running again. Thanks!

Gil

No message - it just closed. I tried the reboot and now Echoview won't even open. I get the splash screen but it just sits there and does not appear in task manager. If I open some other window the splash image disappears. I tried copying a new version of the Echoview.exe into my Winplan directory with no effect.

Do I need to reinstall Echoview? If I do, will I lose my game data?

Sorry, I haven't seen that, ever, so just some random shoots into the fog:

Do you have PlayVCR with Winplan integration? This would mean you have a winplan.exe and a winplano.exe, where winplano.exe is the original Winplan and winplan.exe is the integration tool. The integration tool just observes your Winplan and if you click VCR, it quickly closes that window and launches PlayVCR. If that fails somehow (although I cannot imagine how exactly), you may end up with a winplan.exe running in background closing windows. Reboot gets rid of that process, and launching winplano.exe gives you back your original Winplan.

Reinstalling EchoView will not lose game data. EV's game data is stored in files E<something>.DAT. Normally, everyone keeps their hands off these files. You say EV closes directly after the splash screen and doesn't even let you select a game? This means it hasn't even looked at your game data yet.

Does it help putting EV into a different directory? EV can also be used without Winplan. If installing it into a fresh directory works, there is a problem with a file in your Winplan directory.
