I'ld really like to read about a break request from the player requesting it and not from the admin.

Same for me. I prefer these things to be handled in the open, to make obvious that there's no foul play going on. I see all messages, PM or forum, so PM is not a more direct way to reach me.

There is one (small) argument: I wouldn't post on the internet that my mansion on Park Place / Boardwalk will be unoccupied from Feb 29 to May 35 and nobody will watch my new TV and my wine cellar.

Personally, I judge a host postponement a small risk for that attack scenario (after all, I'm asking for neither a detailed reason, nor a mail address), but maybe someone is a little bit more paranoid.
