Two things: - It would be nice if the thread title worked the same as the tiny "unread post"-Link. Maybe rename the tiny link to "first post" or "first page" and swap the functions.

How about making the icon a "first unread post" link?

- And I just noticed that there appears to be no way to simply write in a thread without replying to somebody. This might be on purpose, but I would also like a simple "write in this thread".

Internally, the forum has a tree structure, just like a newsgroup discussion. Someday I want to render this tree structure, so I encourage everyone to actually produce it ☻

If you wish to "write in this thread", the closest equivalent would be to reply to the opening post, and delete the quotes. It probably makes sense to add a button for that.

On the other hand, don't hesitate to make new threads.
