- Don't blindly lay maximum-size minefields. A well-done carpet of smaller ones takes more time to sweep.
- Overlapping mines increase the hit odds.
- You cannot lay a new minefield when you are inside one of yours. But you can lay small minefields first and increase them later using Lay Mines In.
- If you're Crystal, also lay some normal mines for a change.
- Minefields are good for splitting approaching enemy fleets apart. If the enemies hit mines, they'll most likely do so at different places, which means the enemy force does not arrive all at once.
- You can transfer torpedoes between distant ships by having one ship lay a minefield and another one scoop them up. You can even convert torpedoes between different types this way.
- When sweeping minefields, keep in mind that minefields shrink a bit (decay) before you can sweep.
