(4.0) This option specifies the maximum number of ships that are to appear in the game. PHost will only allow the specified number to be built; when there are more build orders, they will go into the build queue.
PHost will only allow ships with Ids below this value to be built. It will not destroy "excess" ships, however, when you lower this option in mid-game.
When this option is set to more than 500, all players have to use a front-end that supports 999 ships. Programs known to do so are:
- Winplan 3.52.017 and later
- VPA 3.58 and later
- PCC 1.0.11 and later
- EchoView 1.2.14a and later
- There exists a planets.exe, unpack.exe and maketurn.exe with Host999 support.
Even if more than 500 ships are allowed, PHost will not allocate ship Ids above 500 until there are at least 400 ships in the game, to allow people with old clients to start the game and upgrade later.
