When disabled, PHost uses a simple fuel consumption model similar to that of HOST. Essentially, ships burn fuel proportional to their initial mass and their movement distance: when you double the mass, the fuel usage doubles.
When this option is enabled, PHost uses a more exact, differential time model where the ship's mass is updated continuously to account for fuel burned for movement. With this model, ships tend to burn less fuel.
The original client programs will not correctly predict fuel usage when this option is on (the same goes for the default fuel model, but to a lesser extent); the third-party clients (VPA, PCC) aim to be exact. Other than that, the choice of this option depends only on your taste.
